zajeci_cykliste_271.jpg The arrivers will be attracted by the village just from the distance – thanks to its position on the hill, with an impressive church of John the Baptist. Broken terrain and large dimensions of the cadastre support extreme variety of local wines.

The cellar alley

Most of the wine cellars can be found to the west of the main road. The Dolní street is an exception - you will be attracted there mainly by a historicist cellar No. 291. The cellars in Zaječí are characterised mainly by popular light stone as a construction and decorative material. In the second half of the 20th century there appear new added floors, usually rendered with scratched ornaments. A proof of new-era folk creativity is the relief with four musketeers on one of the cellars in Šakvická street. And just to the contrary, the opposite press room of non-burnt brick is very old.

The construction of new cellars at the road to Přítluky provides a unique opportunity to see the traditional technique of vaults constructions. The most valuable are the Baroque cellars at the beginning of Vinařská street, even though some of them suffered from some insensitive re-building.
