The cellar alley

The local vineyards provide ideal conditions for growing of white varieties. Mainly local Green Veltline  or Chardonnay are very popular.

The first written records of the wine cellars in Rakvice date back to 1595. The local cellars are characterised by light ochre or beige facade – you can see it in old one-floor press room No. 63 in Družstevní street. Even the neighbouring object is worth your attention. It stands on a separate island – you can go down the cellar on one side, while on the opposite side you can see a door to the press room on filled cellar. There is a lane of cellars in Luční street from the 19th century, but most of them with new stone facades inspired by similar buildings in Zaječí or Vrbice. There is also an important town hall cellar No. 91, located in one of the edges of the triangle square. The complex U luže offers a place to rest and a sensitively reconstructed press room with cellar No. 29. Other streets with cellars are called: Vinařská, Dvorní, Na kopcech.
